The Lagoon 440 is a revolution in the small world of cruising multihulls. Launched in 2004, it was the first catamaran under 45 feet to boast a fly bridge and an unprecedented nacelle in the shape of a gull’s wing. With the production of 432 units, the Lagoon 440 catamaran broke world records for the under-45 feet range of catamaran. This vessel was delivered by Yacht Delivery Solutions from the Gold Coast to Hawaii and performed well on the passage where we encountered plenty of changing conditions.

The Lagoon 440 has a unique layout that is both practical and comfortable. The saloon and galley are spacious and well lit, thanks to large windows that provide a panoramic view. The cockpit is directly accessible from the saloon and the galley, making it easy to serve meals outside. The helmstation is located on the flybridge providing a great view of the surroundings. The deck layout is clear and efficient, with wide side decks and a rigid walkway on the trampoline. The delivery crew were comfortable throughout our time on the yacht and enjoyed the owners version.

Engines and Tanks

The Lagoon 440 is equipped with two reliable and efficient Yanmar engines. The engines are located far from the living areas and well insulated, ensuring a quiet ride. The fuel tanks have a capacity of 650 liters, providing a good range. The water tanks have a capacity of 900 liters, ensuring a comfortable stay on board. The Lagoon 440 also has a generator and watermaker, adding to its self-sufficiency, and also features a Northern Lights 6 kW generator providing all the power you need while at sea.

The Lagoon 440 offers generous accommodation options with either four double cabins, each with its own private bathroom, or the owners version with 3 cabins which is the one Yacht Delivery Solutions sailed. The cabins are well ventilated and lit by large hull windows. The beds are large and comfortable, with plenty of storage space. The bathrooms are practical and easy to maintain, with separate shower stalls. The saloon can also be converted into a double bed, providing additional sleeping space if needed.

The Lagoon 440 Is built to a high standard of quality and durability. The hull and deck are made of balsa sandwich construction for rigidity, lightness, and insulation. The bridge deck is high above thee water, reducing slamming in rough seas. The interior joinery Is made of marine grade plywood, with a mix of laminated and solid wood finishes. The boat is equipped with high-quality hardware and systems, ensuring reliability and ease of maintenance. The quality of the construction is evident in the yacht’s performance and durability.
